History

Modern agriculture and specialist forces trained to alter traditional agriculture by better use of natural resources which are found in abundance in Farse province, are among some reasons why the agriculture Faculty id Shiraz University was established in 1955.  Initially, this faculty stated its activities in a very small rental place in Shiraz. Later, in 1961, it was moved to its current place, Bajgah. During its 60 years of activities, it has become one the major scientific centers for agricultural science.

High educational standards, training experts, conducting up-to-date research, producing and publishing scientific articles in world-class journals, collaborating with government and private organizations and institutions related to agricultural sciences by Carrying out research projects are among the major goals of this faculty.

The agriculture department seeks to further expand its global position as an international scientific reference in the fields of education and research by creating appropriate scientific platforms to attract students from all over the world.

Indubitably, this faculty owes its scientific and educational progress to its brilliants and hardworking professors and employees. Currently, Faculty of Agriculture has four main offices of administrative and financial, educational and postgraduate, research, cultural and student departments, along with eleven educational departments, five research institutes, three research-educational and production stations in about two thousand hectares of land. It also has a library, internet and computer center, transport unit, production-research greenhouses, copying and reproduction center, dining hall, dormitory and consumer cooperative store.
